#NOTD Off To Work

This is what I wore to work today.

A base coat of a limited edition BarryM varnish, Superdrug special in colour C – Seaside, topped with Claire’s Accessories splatter effect in Sequins. I bought Sequins when out with Lucy. We had an argument over what colour to get.

I love this BarryM shade. Different reviews have different descriptions, but I would go with ‘bright mid blue, with tiny mica elements of pink’. You cant ACTUALLY see pink, but shine it in the light and it’s definitely not blue. You can see, in the shine on my thumb.

Love them both.

When Life Just Gets In the Way

You may have noticed that in the past few months, neither Lucy nor I have managed to post anything regularly.  To be honest, amongst stress, a sprained foot, work, a new job, university, changing course, self employment on both ends and a new career in writing, neither of us have really felt up to it.  Fitting in that two or three hours to write and edit blog posts has just been pure murder.

But, we are back.  I promise there will be something up at least once a week, preferably with some writing attached 🙂

Nail That Colour – Mary Quite Contrary

As George will tell you i’m more of a natural beauty than showcasing stocks of Rimmel coral red lipstick and MaxFactor eye shadow, much to my mums dismay! But I am an avid fan of nail varnish, and recently have been buying them just for the name.

I first noticed a couple of weeks ago, both in my Elle issue and walking through Boots, that the names of the nail colour attracted me more than the colour. For instance – Mary Quite Contrary and Round and Round the Garden are names christened by Rimmel, and I doth my hat to them (maybe borrow George’s hat, or just bow in my Coast dress). Mary is a dusky lavender, and Round and Round the Garden is a timid chalk green (the little sibling of the powerful and bold emerald).

I took them and immediately hunted for Mary’s nail colleagues. Ring a Ring O’ Roses, Ethereal, Little Bo Peep and Funtime Fuchsia. Little Bo Peep literally I just had to have – could not stop smiling! I was very tempted to have Pulsating and Pompous just because I laughed out loud!

I may sneakily wear Mary to work… no one will notice not like i’m wearing Pulsating, or Red Carpet……… Seriously, go to your nearest Boots and indulge!

TMA04 Submitted, But Not Completely…

So I submitted TMA04, a compare and contrast essay of Stuart Cohen’s and Steven Hall’s views on the role of the media with regards to social disorder and moral panic. I didn’t complete it, I sent in about 400 of the 1500 word limit, so I qualify for substitution.

The problem wasn’t so much the word count, but finding relevant information on Hall’s views. There wasn’t much written about him, which was a bit annoying. I’ve already had a week’s extension on it, and I tried. I tried a few times. But I just could not find the information. So I won’t get any kind of mark for this.

I also got told today i’m not on the rota for work next week, so there’s a possibility i’m being made redundant on Saturday, my last day at work.

This week hasn’t been a great start to being 25.
